From the Desk of Teresa Houston

Myself and all of the ECDC staff hopes that every one had a happy holiday season.
We truly enjoy sharing the time and experiences with you and your little ones as valuable members of the ECDC family and look forward to doing the same in the years to come. We also want to thank everyone for all of your wonderful gifts and treats, it is all greatly appreciated.

Safety First
Here are a few tips that we here at ECDC practice in keeping our little ones safe.
Teaching your child his/her full name, the names of his/her parents and phone number.

  • Teaching your child to ask permission before going in and out of buildings, this includes their home.
  • Practice “What if” situations. This will help your child for future troubles such as fire drills and accidental separation in public settings.
  • Point out landmarks around their school and home.

You can find other tips at www.take25.org.

INFANT ROOM

During the month of January the baby bumble bees will be exploring the winter with smells of mint, the feeling of ice and maybe even snow! We will be playing dress up with warm clothes, mittens and hats.

Please be sure to check your child’s daily reports for the “Needed Items” See staff if you have questions..

TODDLER I

We are excited for the new year and all the new learning it will bring. Toddler One will be putting a lot of focus on the five senses through the work we will be doing within the themes of Snowflakes, Winter Wear, Winter Animals, Teddy Bears, and “Let’s Play Ball.”

TODDLER II

Hey Toddler Two parents! We are ready to start this year off. We will be working hard on our fine motor skills. Cutting, pencil grip, and interlocking puzzles are just a few things that we hope to master. The month of January activities will be all about Winter and Martin Luther King Jr. Where we will focus on sharing and caring.

PRESCHOOL

Pre K children are going to be busy this month. Working on Letter Recognition and the themes of Winter Wear, Animals, and Weather.

Please make sure to check your child’s cubby for take home items, they fill up fast. If you have any questions please see staff.

Sarah has taken over the art position for Miss Katie who we will miss very much. She is a Kansas grown Art Teacher who studied at Wichita State and University of Kansas. Her love and personal time are put into her award winning sculptures and teaching at WSU. We are more than glad she has come to us here at ECDC.
